The zoo in the south -German city of Nuremberg gathered 12 healthy marine granduins from the overpopulation in their corps, after which they were served by predators.
On Tuesday, seven human rights defenders were arrested after they entered the Tiergarten Nürnberg Zoo in protest against the decision. One woman glued her hands to the ground at the entrance.
The overcrowding has caused a “increase in conflicts” between the grandmother’s, and no alternative to their refurbishment can be found, the zoo said.
Christoph Measak, Head of the German Legal Association for the Protection of Animals, said that the animals would be too free to multiply “could not be the reason” for their murder.
The Nuremberg Zoo announced the plans to kill some naval grandmother last year, after its population exceeded 40 – more than 25, which could be located in 2009.
Zoos in other countries, which were previously directed by the grandmother, also reached the power measures, and contraception could not slow down the population growth, the zoo said.
On Tuesday morning, the zoo announced that it was closed for “operational reasons”, causing protesters to move through the zoo fence at the entrance where they were arrested.
Later, the zoo confirmed that he had killed his grandmother’s – none of whom was pregnant and part of scientific research. The animals shot, took samples for scientific and research purposes, then their bodies were served by the predators of the zoo.
Dag Enque, Director of the Zoo, said the decision came after a “long -term consideration” and that the ejection of animals could be “legal as a last resort to preserve the population.”
Encke added that the action meets the criteria set out by the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EAZA).
Animal rights group has filed a criminal complaint against the Zoo’s collection of the grandmother who was in “perfect health”.
Press -Secretary of the Pro Wildlife said the decision was “avoiding illegally”, adding: “Healthy animals had to kill because the zoo supported irresponsible and impossible breeding policies for decades.”
European Zotar has previously caused disputes to knock out animals.
In the 2014 zoo in Copenhagen threw a giraffe – By the nickname Marius – because its genes were too close to other giraffes in the zoo breeding program.
Posted giraffe – during which the carcass was leather, cut off, and then fell into the lions – broadcast live online.
