The Canadian man was sentenced to almost two years in prison for theft of Winston Churchill, known as “Roaring Lion”.
Jeffrey Wood pleaded guilty of stealing the original press at the Shata Lauer Hotel in Otava between Christmas 2021 and early January 2022. He also admitted that he had fake.

According to Canadian media, Wood said he made a photo to find money for his brother, who suffered from mental health problems.
During the verdict, Justice Robert Wedden said: “This is a point of national pride that a portrait made by Canadian photographer has reached such glory.”
“There is an element of trust in our society that allows you to reflect the properties that will use all Canadians. To steal, damage and movement in such property – this is a violation of this trust,” he added.
“We are very glad to see that Canadian history is recognized,” said Geneviev Dumas, CEO of the Shata Lauer, reports Canadian broadcast corporation.
Wood was sentenced to “two years less per day”, a difference that means he will serve his sentence in a provincial institution instead of a federal prison.
The Wood lawyer said the verdict was “unnecessarily”, given that he was a criminal for the first time.
