Chris Eubank Sr.The legendary ancient two -pesos world champion that brought British boxing with dignity, pride and class during the 1990’s, has given a brutal message to his strange son, Chris Eubank Jr.A few days before his fight with Conor Benn.
Speaking According toThe iconic figure was not retained, putting the kind of truth that few in today’s sport have the discomfort of saying.
Eubank Sr., a man who lived in the code of boxing nobility, was upset by Junior’s behavior in the accumulation, where he broke a raw egg on Benn’s face:
“Junior, are you breaking an egg against this guy’s face … I taught you? I didn’t teach you. Who taught you this? Karen taught you?”
It made it clear that this behavior is very much under the standards he struggled to defend:
“This is unpleasant! I’m going to be in your corner? You have to be crazy! I would never be in your corner, you are a riot!”
A fine of £ 100,000 was not enough to play a role on what Eubank Sr. He saw a betrayal of everything that box – and his name – means.
Eubank Sr., one of the few remaining that still defends the spirit of noble art, went into the current promotional scene:
“These promoters do not care for boxing and boxing standards and noble art that boxing is. There is no bad language, nor hitting people with eggs and promoting -really. Is it what we are now?
Is that what has come now? Is that what we are? Is that who we are? ”
It was not disappointed, but was outraged by the way the current generation was bewildered:
“Because if we are who we are, it is who they will be your children.”
Eubank Sr. He made it clear, he does not believe that this struggle does not even pass:
“In 147 against 160 he is against the rules. When Kell Brook was made to fight GGG, he is against the rules. This boy had his eyes. This is what happens.
The promoters, for them, are just a game, but the warriors is a way of life. “”
Shouted the whole system to abandon the foundations he and other grains struggled to protect:
“It seems that I am the only person to say” hold a minute, guys. You all go the wrong way. “”
We need to go to the other side. That way, where they bring you, it is in the pits and I do not. “
Eubank Sr. He also reminded everyone what he contributed to sport: something that today’s promoters have clearly forgotten:
“I am the one who created Matchroom. Matchroom would not have replaced other promoters at that time if it were not for the spirit that brought me to my career.”
Headed directly to Barry Hearn:
“Barry, I gave you this. You helped me and helped you. Without me, I couldn’t give you the gift, but you passed it to one of the members of your family.
Where are you, Barry? Go along with all this? ”
When asked if he appeared in the corner of Junior or appeared in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Eubank Sr. It was clear:
“I will not be complicit in his stupidity, of his circus.”
It is proudly maintained against the circus that modern boxing has become:
“Everything I’ve done for boxing should shake it in some kind of circus? It’s the wrong statement. It’s a riot.”
Chris Eubank Sr. It is not just an old champion: he is a standard bearer for which he once meant boxing and what he still should aspire to.
A fighter who won the belts in the right way. A man who treated sports and his fans with respect. A legend that fought against five world title fights a year, not three fights in three years.
His voice may sound lonely now in an age obsessed with the acrobatics of social media and circus -like promotions, but do not be wrong: Chris Eubank Sr. is a giant The principles of which are often put on the current boxing.
You may not agree with everything he says, but you cannot deny that he speaks from a place that few others even remember.
Boxing: Real boxing – needs more men like him.
