Chmerkovskiy Maks admit it is difficult on some of his Dancing with the stars Partners because of the financial elements of the show.
“There are definite ways of influencing you to want to do your best and stay on and so I think someone like me, for example, is firing,” Chmerkovskiy, 45, was told only Weekly US In promoting his new Kápa vodka brand. “Sometimes that competitiveness starts because on top of it, if I’m not still doing week after week, I’m not paid. And so now my time is coming, like, ‘Now I’m wasting time.'”
Chmerkovskiy, who performed on the competition series as pro For 15 seasons, he added that his goal was to reach the semifinals to ensure that he would have a “pay check all 10 weeks.”

Chmerkovskiy added that while in partnership with Davis, he felt extra competitive against him Derek Hough Which has won the Six -time competition series – and since becoming a judge.
“Then you look over and Derek is with one of her best, most memorable partners ever and she’s been performing brilliantly,” said Chmerkovskiy with reference to Hough Amy purdy‘s dynamic. “And so there were a lot of things for that season too. But Meryl was an amazing partner. And I think I was also at that time already ready to go all the way in that kind of partnership.”
While Chmerkovskiy remembers his personal experience he acknowledged that “is not sure what current contracts in ”but he seems to have” evolved “since the early days of the show.
“I don’t think (that’s) now. I think there are some guarantees,” said Chmerkovskiy about the dancers’ contracts.
However, he added that some benefits could get that competitive mindset that the wage desire for a pay check still does not fire.
“But also some people welcome that too. Some people probably look, my pro is fine with things,” he said Us. “And they are upset (by) the fact that I wish I could have been paired with someone who is so driven because I need that stuff.”
Chmerkovskiy noted that he is the type of person who thrives when he has strict guidance and performs best with a similar partner.
“That’s why some of these types of partnerships work. I had some amazing partnerships with people who were a specific kind today,” he reflected. “Honestly, whatever they want. They want to push themselves. They want to have a great time. They want to be prone to athletics. They want it to be more of a display. This is whatever you want, but I want you to have a great time.”
Chmerkovskiy last appeared as one of the Dump advantages in season 25. However he admitted he had asked back “every year” because of his contact with a brother Val Chmerkovskiysister -in -law Jenna Johnson and wife Murgatroyd map.
“I think today we will come back,” he told Us from a possible return to the dancing room. “It doesn’t matter if judging or dancing, I think it’s fun even being in this situation. Who would have thought there were moments when talking about reminiscing. There were moments in my journey with Dancing with the stars I have never thought that I will be part of it 20 years later as I was. “
In addition to his dancing room career, Maks have ventured into the alcohol business and launched his new Kápa vodka. The spirit is available now, but Maks will make an appearance at Elsie’s Rooftop in New York City on Friday, June 6, to celebrate his new venture.
“It’s something I’m proud of and most importantly, it brings me back to New York City,” he told us. “Currently, (Kápa) is all over Manhattan and New Jersey and Brooklyn and surrounding areas. These are my stoming grounds.”
Maks shared that he was proud of what Kápa has achieved so far because he has never done anything like this before now.
“I come from a different industry. I know sales a little. It’s also a different crowd,” he explained. “But as I am the father of three, a husband and all the duties that come with him, I am now in age and that kind of demographic, this is for my people. This is for me to all of you. And he has no bad things.”
