Chinese Startup Pony.ai reports First Robotaxi Fire with no injuries

Beijing – one of Pony.ai“S Robotaxis caught fire on Tuesday when the incident was not injured, the CNBC Chinese Startup said.

The company did not reveal the cause of the fire. The video seeking to show the incident in Beijing was distributed in social media. CNBC could not check these footage on your own.

Electric vehicles such as Tesla trying to develop their own robotico have previously caught Blaze.

Pony.ai said one of his fully management vehicles was discovered as an abnormal status in Beijing at about 9:30 am local time on May 13.

The company operates cars using software that can be controlled in the center.

There were no passengers at the time of the incident, and the vehicle automatically initiated an emergency stop, resulting in no collisions and injuries, Pony said. It noted that the service workers arrived within two minutes after receiving the warning.

“The vehicle caught fire during the processing process,” Pony said. “The staff on the spot, agreed with the appropriate bodies to execute measures, safely and effectively decided the incident. The specific reason is currently being investigated.”

Pony.ai shares fell more than 10% over the night. So far, shares have increased by more than 25%.

The company manages the roboticis in parts of the major Chinese cities in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, a total of more than 250 cars across the country as of the end of November.

Pony.AI in late April announced that works with ToyotaBeijing Back And Gac Aion for new Robotaxi vehicles, which the company claimed can cut costs by 70%.

Chinese companies are increasingly increasing competition with American competitors, and Chinese electric vehicles quickly become dominant players in the domestic market through Tesla and traditional foreign automakers.
