China has challenged Germany that it was aimed at a military plane with a laser, released from the warship, as the diplomatic plus is deepened between the two countries.
Germany has accused China of trying to disrupt one of the planes earlier this month, as it participated in operations under the leadership of the European Union to defend the ships in the red sea launched by Yemen Houthi Rebel Group.
The German Foreign Ministry caused the Ambassador of China and called the incident “completely unacceptable”. The Chinese EU Messenger was also summoned by BLOC, Reuters reports.
Beijing pushed back, stating that the German account is “completely contrary to the fact that the Chinese side is known.”
On Tuesday, Germany said the reconnaissance plane was directed when it flew through the Red Sea, where several European countries contributed to observation and defensive efforts since the beginning of 2024 to protect ships from regular attacks started from Yemen.
The laser was fired from a Chinese warship, which was seen several times and had no communication with a passing plane, Germany said.
The aircraft was forced to abandon its mission and return to the military base in East Africa Djibouti as a precaution, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports.
Berlin fiercely responded to the incident, accusing China of “threatening German staff and violation of the operation”.
The Chinese government responded on Wednesday, and Mao Nin -Secretary -Socialista press told a press conference that his fleet conducted “escort operations” in the Gulf of Adene and off the Somalia coast.
She said that Germany and China should “take relationships on the basis of facts and strengthen communication in a timely manner to avoid misunderstanding and misconception.”
China has been accused of using lasers to orientation to military aircraft earlier, primarily the United States. China denied it.
Lasers can be used for blind pilots, and a new class of powerful lasers capable of turning off the goals in the air are in the development of military worldwide.
China has established a permanent military presence in the region in 2017, when it opened the base in Djibouti, which, according to Beijing, is used for anti-piracy and freedom of maritime navigation operation.
Western governments have expressed concern about China’s ambitions in the region after the opening of the database in Djibouti, where the US, Japan, France and others also have military installations.
It is located at a strategically important point leading to the Red Sea and the Suez Canal – one of the most important delivery routes.
