The actor died at a nursing facility in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania on Thursday, May 1.
Scalies were best known for his role as Dock Worker and Union Member Thomas “Horeface” Pakusa Forward The wireappears in each episode of the second season of critical tied show, released in 2003.
“As with all the other characters I’ve been wonderful to portray, Horeface lives inside me,” said the actor in 2019. “I invite him out to play as needed.”
On The sopranosScalies played a high school sports coach who appeared in a dreamy sequence opposite James Gandolfini. As Scalies once told a local correspondent, “I’m a good actor. I can sweat on a queue.”
Away from the cameras, the Pennsylvania’s lifelong resident was a zealous family man. “Best known in most as a husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend,” read his public memorial writing. “Professionally, Charley Scalies was an American actor and a former business medicer whose life reflected a rich combination of professional achievement, creative passion, and real joy for life. His favorite audience always sat around the dinner table.”

As the news broke about the actor’s death, Anne Marie led tributes. “Charley emphasized the importance of a family, noting that love their mother, spending quality time, and teaching respect and hard work are key elements of paternity,” he told Hollywood reporter. “He saw a father’s duty as prominent children towards independence. His stories will be lost by his wife, children, and grandparents, but his memory will live in their hearts.”
In addition to his two best -known roles, Scalies also appeared in the 1995 film Two pieces, sides To the Pacinoand chapters of Manslaughter: street life and Law and order. He came to act after a career in sales and consultation, but was, by all accounts, a born entertainer, making impressions and saying jokes in his father’s pit hall in his youth.
