The size between Russia and Ukraine is exchanged by prisoners, governments in Moscow and Kiev have been confirmed.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said the exchange was unfolding “over several stages” in the coming days, adding that the wounded, seriously injured and soldiers under 25 are returning.
Writing on Telegram, Zelensky said: “The process is quite complex, there are many sensitive details, negotiations continue almost every day.”
Russia has stated that a “such number” of prisoners of war was returned to Ukraine, although none of the parties gave a clear figure how many people exchanged.
The Russian Defense Ministry said “the first group of Russian troops under the age of 25 was returned from the territory controlled by the regime of Kiev” after the agreement reached between the warring countries last week during the talks in Turkey.
