Chad Michael Murray reflects on A scary stay at the hospital when he was a teenager.
“I was 15, and my intestines had spoken,” said Murray, 43, on Friday’s episode, August 8, of the “Great Company” podcast. “I was in hospital for two and a half months. It was a lot.”
He added, “We had surgery. I had internal bleeding, (a) I lost 50 percent of my blood. I was on my deathbed.”
Murray further explained that he has few memories of the experience almost dead because he is “in and out of awareness.”
“I remember seeing my dad, the weak I ever saw, and a priest at the end of my bed,” the Friday Freakier star Remember. “They talk about last rituals and all those things, and (the nurse) gave me a blood transfusion to save my life. It saved my life.”
Murray added, “No matter, you are there for two months and, you know, my organs have shut down because you have all blood clotted around them, and they had to wait until everything. So, anyway, I had to have a second surgery to clean everything.”
While Murray was in hospital, his sister, two women named Sandy and Alana, inspired him to pursue a career in Hollywood.
“Alana tells me, ‘O Gosh, you should model,'” he said. “I was like, ‘I don’t want to model. I want to be an actor. Like, I love film and TV. I want to give this gift to other people.’ It’s like, ‘Well, you can segue from modeling to act.

“I went out. I went, like, 180 to 118 lbs. I was a skeleton when I got out,” he said for being released from the medical facility. “It was the most terrifying thing ever. I remember looking in the mirror the first time to go, ‘Who is that?” I cried (and) I couldn’t believe I looked back at that guy. “

“I started my relationship with God, and my relationship with my father came very close,” he said. “My father (was) raised five children on his own (a) coming to hospital every day, and he spent countless evenings with me when he had four other children at home.”
Murray further gated, “The man is difficult like nails, and he did that for us. I’m too, like, beyond grateful. That’s when our relationship really bonded.”
