Youtuber Catherine Paiz Removing the curtain on a family empire — and the real dynamics between her and ex-husband Austin McBroom.
On the episode of Wednesday, May 28, from Alex Cooper‘S. “Call his father” Podcast, Paiz shared her side of the story after McBroom confirmed his infidelity during their wedding. (Paiz and McBroom Rose to fame Almost a decade ago for their vlogs family, pranks and challenges.)
“I know for sure three,” said Paiz about the alleged women’s number that McBroom cheated on, noting that they have never reached out. “They’re out there in the world acting like that ever happened.”
McBroom apparently shared that he was unfaithful in a series of Snapchat stories May 12, per A! Newsand he also claimed that Paiz had taken him stepping outside her marriage – which she denied.
“That’s not the case. I never did, ever, never say that. I would never say that,” said Paiz, calling his words “a punch to the gut.”
In becoming emotional, Paiz reflected on the kind of lesson that those actions would teach their children. (Paiz and McBroom, who divorced in 2024Share Elle Daughters, 8, and Alaia, 5, and Son Steel, 4.)
“I would never want my children to think that is right to cheat on your husband or wife,” he said. “I’ll make sure they know they’ll never, never do that because that is so wrong. You never cheat on the person you love. I would never in a million years say that.”

Paiz explained that McBroom’s infidelity had been confirmed to her when they were documenting Alia’s first hair cut. After Paiz’s phone died while filming the milestone moment, she allegedly grabbed the McBroom phone to document the snip – where she saw an alleged text message between him and a mysterious woman.
“I never looked in his phone,” said Paiz. “As soon as I hooked the phone, as out of a movie, this long text comes through, ‘If you really love your wife, you wouldn’t …”
Paiz, who was pregnant with their son at the time, remembered her heart dropping in the moment.
“I’m pregnant. There are people watching us. The camera is on. He felt surreal,” he said. “He grabs the phone from me and deletes the message right away. I thought, ‘Oh my gosh, it’s true.’”
Paiz explained that she had a chat with McBroom in the car, pleading that he told her who the person he received was.
“I saw enough to know immediately that this is an emotional relationship that it has with someone,” he said. “This is a woman who has a relationship with my husband.”
After McBroom showed Paiz the woman, she eventually forgiven her husband. Now, however, Paiz said she “never” felt his words were “apological.”
“Even through our divorce, even through everything, I never heard say the words ‘I cheated’ until about a week ago,” he said. “When I heard the words, I was like, ‘Oh my God, at last. I heard it. Thank you. That’s all I was waiting for. Thank you. That’s all I needed to hear.’ … At last hearing those words was so healing for me because it wasn’t going crazy. ”
When Paiz discovered the cheating, she claimed to “check” and refuse to get “anyone came close to my temple.”
“It was four years. It was more like five years, if you think about it,” Paiz said of how long she and McBroom were not close to you.
When asked if McBroom had ever tried to “follow” during that time, Paiz denied the idea. “No, and that’s how I knew that cheating was happening,” he claimed. “Now I know how that’s not normal.”
Paiz said she was taking “full accountability” of being in a relationship and not following it either. “Although I was disgusted and I didn’t want to be close to you, I didn’t have these very serious conversations, like, ‘Hey maybe we should go see a therapist. Perhaps we should do couples therapy. This is not normal going another year without being physically close to you,’ he said.
While documenting their life for YouTube, Paiz claimed she had “seconds” where he questioned whether McBroom’s romantic gestures were valid.
“And then it was, I was a kind of following with that surprise. And then I’m like, ‘I feel like I’m a clown in a circus,'” he said.
Paiz explained that she felt “disconnect” when their second daughter was born about whether she wanted to film the content.
“It was like, ‘I don’t really want to film this. But, like, I know people wait for him because they’ve invested so much.’ This slim line was similar, ‘Do I put my foot down and only live in the moment or am I too …?’ He held the camera so he made it easier, but it was, ‘is he here nonetheless?
Ultimately, Paiz released the video and claimed it was “truly insensitive and empty” at the time.
Paiz admitted that she “never” hesitated to put her children in front of the camera for YouTube.
“Back in the day, it was really new. YouTube, it’s been a thing for a while but we were really, like… I hate to say the word, but we sorted out that family vogening experience. We were the first to make that size, that way,” he said.
In terms of backlash that she and McBroom had “exploited” their children, Paiz noted that they had “pure intentions.”
“That never crossed our mind. I feel we just started something new,” said Paiz, noting that her children had a separate bank accounts.
Paiz sheds light on the size of the family rack up every month. “There was a time we were doing seven figures a month,” Paiz claimed. “For me, it was like I was insignificant.”
Now, Paiz claimed she would have “invested” the money and bought her parents’ homes. “We didn’t have the right mentors, we didn’t have the right equipment,” he said. “We made very bad business decisions along the way.”
