2025 has been brutal for us favorite shows are cancelled.
Netflix cut ties with Women5eva after save it from cancellation. The musical comedy premiered on Peacock in 2021 and followed four women who were part of a girl group. After becoming a one-hit wonder, the former friends came together later in life to try to find musical success again.
Women5eva was renewed for a second season but Peacock without raising more seasons. The show moved to Netflix for season 3, which ended up being its final season.
Sara Bareilles, Philipps Prysur, Paula Pell a Renée Elise Goldsberry which is the main cast of the show. After canceled againPhilipps released an emotional statement.
“2024 sure has been a fucking heartbreak. Some more painful than others, tbh. I am forever grateful for this amazing show and these women who became my sisters5eva, for Netflix giving us a chance to sing together a little longer and to everyone at Universal and Peacock who roots so hard on for our show,” the actress wrote via Instagram. “And of course the genius of Meredith and Jeff and Eric and my patron saint Tina Fey.”
He continued, “Honestly, I don’t know how or what I would be without this show and the endless joy it brought me in the darkest time of my life. i really love what i do. and sometimes it feels almost impossible. anyway, isn’t that just like everything good in life? love you 5eva❤️.”
Apple TV+ Sunny was another big loss on television. Based on the 2018 novel The Dark HandbookSunny starry Rashida Jones as an American woman living in Japan who gets a gifted domestic robot after her husband and son disappear in a plane crash.
“I wish there was a little more awareness about our show. Not going to lie,” said Jones The Hollywood Reporter in September 2024 for the admission to his now canceled show. “I think (Sunny) is finding his audience because people seem to like it and a lot of people are talking to me about it. What (Apple) has is that they have very good taste, and they make very good shows.”
The actress credited the streaming service for weekly release allowed. “I know it’s old school and not everyone does it, but I think the (phased release) format suits the show,” Jones continued. “I’m sure some people are waiting to start the show when all (the episodes) are out, because they’re used to that pace. But I feel like there’s a lot of little things that get dropped along the way that you want to maybe sit with for a while before you dive into the end.”
Jones also asks about the questions that are still needed to get an answer.
“That’s very much the hope and it’s kind of set up that way, and I don’t think we’re spoiling anything for anyone by saying there are things you’ll want to know at the end ,” he added. “Did you feel like you were left hanging, did you feel like you were satisfied too?”
