Canada discusses joining us missile defense program Golden Dome

The Canadian government said it is negotiating from the US on the entry into its proposed “golden dome” of rocket protection aimed at counteracting the “air” threat to the next generation.

Prime Minister Mark Karnya’s Office said there are “active discussions” between Canada and the US, including existing and new programs such as the Golden Kupala.

US President Donald Trump has submitted a new missile defense system on Tuesday, announcing $ 25 billion (18.7 billion pounds). He added that Canada expressed interest in joining.

There are doubt about how the US will provide a comprehensive system, and it is unclear how Canada will participate or how much it will pay.

Canada’s openness to joining the proposed “Golden Kupala” system goes amid permanent trade and security negotiations between the countries after Trump threatened with steep tariffs on Canada and said it would be better as the US state.

This galvanized a wave of national patriotism in Canada, which introduced a historical victory in the election for Karni’s liberal government.

“The Canadians gave the Prime Minister a strong mandate to agree on a comprehensive new security and economic relationship with the United States,” said Carney Audrey Shampus, Carney’s press.

“To this end, the Prime Minister and his ministers are conducting extensive and constructive discussions with their American counterparts,” she said.

“These discussions, of course, include the strengthening of NORD and related initiatives such as the” golden dome “.

But Ms Champoux added that it is too early to say that she could pay Canada to the program, or how it will work for the country.

Earlier on Tuesday, Trump said Canada expressed interest in being part of the golden dome.

“We will talk to them,” the US president said. “They also want to have protection, so, as usual, we help Canada.”

Trump said the new Golden Kupala missile program will work until the end of its time, and that it will come with $ 175 billion. He added that his administration was looking for Canada to “pay his share”.

Canada and the United States are already partners on the aerospace aerospace defense team, also known as NORAD, which is responsible for aerospace and marine observation, warning and protection of the region, and can detect and beat cruise missiles.

Nooard has been operating since 1958, and both countries have participated in the modernization discussions in recent years.

Trump said the proposed gold dome is designed to target more complex air weapons and would include space sensors and interceptors.

He said the system would “even intercede missiles launched from the other side of the world or launched from space.”

It is partly inspired by Israel’s iron dome, which the country has used rockets and missiles since 2011.

Experts expressed doubts about whether the US would be able to build a similar complex defense system, given its large land.

Joshi’s Hoshak, Defense Editor in The Economist, told the BBC that one way to work with a gold dome using thousands of satellites to detect and track rockets, and then use interceptors in orbit to shoot rockets when they bring them out.

He said the US military would take this plan seriously, but it was unrealistic to think that it would be completed during Trump’s term, and huge costs would suck up a large piece of US protection.

The Congress budget estimated that possible price tags can amount to $ 542 billion in 20 years, only on the space parts of the system.
