Can Stevenson survive Hearn’s 2025 schedule to face the tank?

Eddie Hearn reiterated that Shakur Stevenson’s three-fight plan in 2025 is to run the Gauntlet against Floyd Schofield, William Zepeda and Gervonta Davis.

The demands of the tank

Hearn described Shakur (22-0, 10 kos) as a “Wonderful fighter“And he’s open to putting the Gervonta Davis fight where the ‘best chance’ is for the clash. It’s going to take a lot of money to get Tank Davis to agree to fight Stevenson because he won’t want to face the track star unless he’s paid $100 million, he said.

This could mean the fight will be on Amazon Prime PPV. However, it’s too early to start talking about a tank-shakur fight because Shakur can get loose against the young lion Schofield (18-0, 12 KOS) on February 22nd in his fight at Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol 2 in Riyadh.

If Stevenson wins this fight, he still has to overcome #1 ranked lightweight contender William Zepeda (32-0, 27 KOS), and that won’t be easy. With Zepeda’s high volume, body punch and ability to cut the ring against runners, he will get to Stevenson no matter how much he uses the move.

Shakur doesn’t possess the power or work rate to match Zepeda. If Newark, New Jersey native Stevenson goes on a run all night like he did against Edwin de Los Santos, Jeremiah Nakathilia and Joet Gonzales, his stock will drop to an all-time low.

Even if Shakur is victorious against Zepeda, it would be considered a loss by the fans because I would be booedand the boxing world would see the fight in Dazn. I predicted 2025 to end badly for Stevenson, with his reputation as a runner ruining Hearn’s best-laid plans, turning him into a laughing stock and the equivalent of a leper.

Hearn’s plan

“The plan for Shakur Stevenson is Schofield, Zepeda, Gervonta. This is 2025, and this fight is going to be one of the biggest fights in the world because Gervonta Davis is an amazing fighter, and so is Shakur. He’s just a wonderful fighter . We get there first. And that’s where the best fight is going to be,” said Eddie Hearn @Sean_Zittel.
