Cameron Diaz ready to revisit the role that made him famous.

The Back At Work star, 52, said she would have to reprise her breakthrough role as Tina Carlyle in a sequel to The Maskbut only if the main actor Jim Carrey back.

“If Jim’s on board… I mean, I’ve been riding those coattails from day one,” Diaz said Access Hollywood in a recent interview.

Carrey, for his part, reflected on 30 years of The Mask and whether he would be interested in a follow-up to last year’s promotion Sonic the Hedgehog 3. “Oh gosh, you know, this must be the right idea. If someone had the right idea, probably,” said Carrey, 63 years old ComicBook.com in December 2024. “It’s not really about the money. I joke about the money… but I never know. Diaz got her big break in Hollywood in the original Maskplays nightclub singer Tina opposite Stanley Ipkis Carrey, who discovers a magical mask that transforms him into a mischievous green-faced hero.

The actress followed her role in The Mask with blockbusters like There’s Something About Mary, My Best Friend’s Wedding a Charlie’s Angelsmaking her one of the biggest Hollywood stars of the 90s and early 2000s.

Diaz quietly took a break from acting in 2014 after starring Annie but he is now back on the big screen opposite her Annie costar Jamie Foxx in Netflix’s Back At Work. Recently, the actress shared how much she loved her time away from acting.

“Oh my God, I loved it. It was the best 10 years of my life,” Diaz said on the Friday, January 17, episode of The Graham Norton Show. “I was free to say, ‘I’m a mother, I’m a wife, I’m living my life.'”

Diaz went on to say that stepping away from acting “made sense for the family” at the time, as she and husband Benji Maddenwhom she married in 2015, sharing two children: daughter Raddix, born in 2019, and son Cardinal, born in 2024. Diaz added that “people stopped asking” her to take on new roles after a while. “It was so lovely,” she said.

“It’s an honor to do this,” he told the host Graham Norton for acting. “I said to myself, if I let this go, all this goodwill, all this I have to build over so much time, the passion I have to entertain people and make films that’ n (make) people smile and laugh and have a good time, and they sit in the theater or they sit at home and it moves them — if I don’t engage with that again and give that a chance and participate in it and be grateful for it, we will a fool.”
