A routine traffic stop took an unusual turn when a California Highway Patrol official stopped the Rolls-Royce in Madera County on Monday.
Officials dragged 2022 Rolls-Royce Ghost for speeding on Highway 99, but were surprised to find a spider monkey in the car.
CHP noted that the presence of an exotic animal in an exotic car made the “stop with a twist” especially strange.
The monkey was safely taken into custody by animal control and eventually transferred to the Oakland Zoo for proper care. (Madera CHP)

The believed to be a monkey to have one month, and primates are illegal to keep as pets in California.
The driver, identified as Ali Mused Adel Mohamed, 27, was also under the influence and was arrested for DUI and possession of cannabis for sale, police officials said.

The CHP says Mohamed faces charges in the incident.

“Next level monkey business! The driver was booked into the Madera County Jail on a number of charges, including possession of an exotic animal,” they wrote on their social media accounts.
