The Bengal Cricket Association (CAP) has presented a meteorological report from the BCCI to retain the lodging rights for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. According to the latest report, CAB has requested that the prestigious final match be held in its iconic stadium.
The Final IPL 2025 was scheduled to take place at the Eden Gardens on May 25. However, the final was postponed on June 3 due to a week’s suspension. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won the IPL 2024 season, and the premises received the rights to host both the IPL 2025 final and the qualifying match 2.
It was previously reported that the IPL governing body is considering moving Kolkata’s final match to Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. They want to change the site in response to unfavorable weather forecasts planned for Kolkata on June 3.

However, Bengal’s Cricket Association has responded to the worries about the climate affecting the IPL 2025 final. According to a Revsportz report, CAB sent a letter to the BCCI stating that the weather predictions made weeks in advance are not reliable.
“ The association approached the Kolkata Regional Meteorological Center requesting a report on the meteorological pattern planned in Kolkata on June 3.The MET office report, which was sent to the BCCI, clearly states that it is too early to make this prediction and it is only around May 25, which can be made such a forecast, ” says report.
CAB has also obtained information from the Delhi Indian Meteorological Department. They included this response to their letter to the BCCI.
“We are sure that things will work because we have done a very good job to organize -in addition, you cannot predict the weather patterns so soon and we have presented all the official documents for this purpose,” a source said in Rev Sportz.
The IPL 2023 final was played at the Narendra Modi stadium of Ahmedabad. However, it was affected by the weather conditions. The game had to use a reserved day due to rain interruptions, which also caused five points to be lost during the second post.
The BCCI has not yet finished the places of the playoffs and end of the IPL 2025, although the dates are already established. If the final moves from Kolkata to Ahmedabad due to the first weather concerns, Eden Gardens could be compensated with a major match during the World Cup of 2026 T20.
Eden Gardens hosted the T20 World Cup final in 2016 and a semifinal in the World Hate Cup of 2023. Mostly the T20 World Cup is co-colonized by India and Sri Lanka in February to March 2026.
On the other hand, the Narendra Modi stadium of Ahmedabad hosted the summit clashes in 2022 and in 2023. By 2022, the premises were awarded with the final after the entire League in Mumbai was celebrated. He retained the lodging rights the following year as champions of 2022.
