How do you measure misfortune? For journalists, the usual way is to see, feel it, smell.
Related Palestinian colleagues in Gaza do this, still doing invaluable reporting with great risk to themselves. More than 200 were killed by doing their job.
Israel does not allow international journalists in gas.
Defusing the chances of an eyewitness report – one of the best tools – we can, from a distance, evaluation of assistance organizations working in gas.
Last week, Pascal Handt, Deputy Director of the Red Cross International Committee, said that civilian residents were faced with “the overwhelming daily struggle for the experience of the danger of hostilities, coped with relentless resettlements and postpone the consequences of imprisonment.”
He added: “This situation should not – and cannot – be allowed to grow further.”
But this can, if Israel continues to delve into the war that resumed March 18, when it broke a two -month ceasefire regime with a large -scale air strike series.
Israel has already sealed the gas gate. Since the beginning of March, it has blocked all humanitarian aid supplies, including food and medical materials.
The return to the war ended with any chance to move to the proposed fire of the second phase, which Israel and Hamas agreed, end with the exit of all other hostages in exchange for full Israeli removal from Gaza.
This was unacceptable for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and ultra-nationalist religious extremists who hold him in power.
They want the Palestinians to be replaced by Jewish settlers. They threatened to tear off the Netanyahu government if he did not return to the war, and the end of the political career of Netanyahu will bring the day of reckoning for his participation in the refusal of Israel to prevent death by Hamas on October 7, 2023.
Prime Minister Netanyahu is currently promising a new “intense” gas attack on days after President Donald Trump has finished his scope through wealthy Arab oil monarchies in the Gulf of Persian at the end of this week.
The offensive inclusion includes a plan of displacement of a large number of Palestinian civilians on top of the waves of artillery, air strikes and death. “Subtract” is a cold verb. This means that families who have only a handful of minutes to escape for their lives, from the area that can be immediately hit to the one that can be affected later. Hundreds of thousands have been done repeatedly since the war began.
Gaza was one of the most crowded places on the ground before the war. The Israeli plan is to force as many gases as possible in the tiny territory in the south, near the ruins of the city of Rafa, which was almost completely destroyed.
Before the UN, the UN Humanitarian Service estimates that 70% of the gas is already effective for Palestinians. Israel’s plan should Leave them in an even smaller area. The UN and the leading assistance groups rejoice in Israeli statements that Hamas steals and control the food that is included in the gas. They refused to cooperate with the scheme dreamed by Israel and the US, which would use private security firms protected by Israeli troops to distribute major rations.
Far from Gaza, in London, I talked to Philip Latarini, Arva General, UN Agency, which supports Palestinian refugees. He told me that he had the words “to describe the misfortune and the tragedy that touches people in Gaza. Now they have passed for more than two months without help.”
“Fasting is distributed, people run out, people are hungry … You can expect that in the coming weeks, if you do not come, people will not die from the bombing, but they will die from the lack of food. These are humanitarian aid weapons.”
If the words are not enough, look at the most reputable evaluation of hunger and nutrition data in regular reports issued by an integrated food security phase or IPC. It is a joint venture of UN agencies, assistance groups and governments that measure or hunger.
The last IPC update says the gas is close to hunger. But it states that the whole population, more than two million people, almost half of the children, feels spicy food security. In ordinary English, this means that they are starving in Israel’s blockade.
The IPC says that 470,000 gases, 22% of the population, are in the classification it calls “Phase 5 – Catastrophe”. IPC defines this as a condition in which “at least one fifth households have a stunning lack of food and starvation, leading to a decrease, an extremely critical level of acute malnutrition and death.”
In practice, the classification of the five phases, the most acute used IPC, estimates that “71000 children and more than 17,000 mothers will need urgent treatment of acute malnutrition.”
Thousands of tons of nutrition, medical care and humanitarian materials they need are sitting in just a few miles, on the other side of the border in Egypt.
In London, I asked Mr. Latarini if he agreed with those who accused Israel of refusing food and humanitarian civilian residents as weapons of war.
“I absolutely have no doubt,” he said, “that this is what we have witnessed for the last 19 months, especially in the last two months. This military crime. The quantitative definition will come from the CU (International Court), but what I can say is that we see, food and humanitarian aid that is used to satisfy political or military.”
I asked Mr. Latarini if the blockade could up for the year and half of the war and destruction, could make a genocide. This is the charge of Israel, covered by South Africa and other CU countries in The Hague.
“Listen, on any account, the destruction of the massive. The number of people who were killed is huge and certainly underestimated. We have seen the systematic destruction of the school, and with health. People are constantly moving all the time. Therefore, we have absolutely no doubt that we are talking about massive atrocities.
Israel’s Defense Minister does not create Israel’s tactics. Last month, Katz stated that the blockade was a “main lever pressure” to provide victory over Hamas and pulling out all the hostages. National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has agreed. He wrote that: “The cessation of humanitarian aid is one of the main levers of Hamas pressure. The return of gas assistance before Hamas kneel and releasing all our hostages would be a historical mistake.”
Netanyahu’s plans for another offensive and remarks made by Katz, Ben-Gvir and others, in the horror of Israeli families with hostages still in Gaza. The forum of hostages and disappeared families, representing many of them, said that Minister Katz was pushing “the illusion … Israel chooses to seize the territory in front of the hostage.”
Israeli military reservists also protested the dissidents of Israeli, saying that they were forced to fight again for Israel’s security, but for the political survival of the Israeli government. In the Air Force Reserve, 1200 pilots signed an open letter stating that the extension of the war served mainly “political and personal interests, not security.” Netanyahu accused a small group of “bad apples” of an open letter.
For many months, Netanyahu and his government have also been accused by Mr Lacarini in Lies. One of the official reports posted on the Internet in January this year was headed by “Di -Direction of Arv Lacarini”. He claimed that he “consistently made false statements that deeply misinformed the public discussion on the issue.” Israel, says Israel, has been penetrated and operated by Hamas to an unprecedented degree. It states that some ONT staff took part in the attacks on October 7.
Mr. Latarini denies personal accusations aimed at his Israel, and wider, directed at the Anfa. He says Arvo has investigated 19 employees named Israel and concluded that nine of them could respond. All 19 were suspended. Mr. Latsarini said he has since received “hundreds of accusations from Israel. Each time as an organization based on the rule, we continue to ask for justified information.” He said they never got it.
All wars are political and no more than those between Israel and Palestinians. The war draws and outlines the outside world as well as the warring.
Israel claims that self -defense has justified its actions since October 7, 2023, when Hamas, Islamic jihad and other attacked Israel, killed about 1,200 people, mostly Israeli civilians, and 251 are still hostage. Any other government, it is said, would do the same.
The Palestinians and more concerned and outraged choir of states, including some key European allies of Israel, say that it does not justify the continuation of the most devastating attack on the Palestinians after the 1948 war, when Israel gained its independence, which the Palestinians call “disaster”.
Even President Trump shows signs to remove himself from Benjamin Netanyahu, saying that Gaza residents should feed.
The accusation is that the complete denial of food against the civilian of Gazana is more evidence of Israeli genocide against the Palestinians, outraged Benjamin Netanyahu, his government and many Israeli citizens. In Israel, he created rare political unity. Opposition leader Yair Lapid, as a rule, a harsh critic of Netanyahu, condemned the “moral collapse and moral catastrophe” in the CU.
Genocide is defined as the destruction of a whole or partly, national, ethnic, racial or religious group. The International Criminal Court, a separate body, issued orders for the arrest of Netanyahu and his former defense minister on charges of war crimes they dismiss. Three leaders of Hamas, who were also the subject of ICC orders, were killed by Israel.
It is not so fast to think about the long -term influence of this devastating war, although its end is not visible. Mr. Latarini told me that “in the coming years we will understand how wrong we are … on the wrong side of the story. We were allowed to unfold in the clock.”
According to him, on October 7, Hamas’s attacks on Israel began: “The greatest murder of Israeli and Jewish in the region after the Second World War” was accompanied by “massive” military response from Israel.
According to him, “disproportionate, mostly almost leading to the destruction of the entire population in the homeland … I think there is a collective responsibility from the international community, level, passivity, indifference so far, lack of political, diplomatic, economic actions.
Ahead of the Donald Trump Gaza as a Mediterranean, restored and owned by America and without Palestinians, may become an attempt to realize the dangerous imagination of Donald Trump. This gave the form of a cherished dream about Israeli extremists who threaten the removal of Palestinians from the Earth between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean.
Whatever it is, it won’t be peace.
