According to Pullman Police Department records obtained by NBC NewsAuthorities investigated 2021 in a home in Pullman, Washington, just across the state line of Moscow, Idaho.
An individual hidden by a knife is alleged to break into a house of four sorority sisters at 3:30 am and stand over one of their beds, according to documents released by the city of Pullman.
A witness told authorities that the person fled the scene after she kicked them in the stomach, stated police records.
The records show that authorities were investigating a neighbor but had no likely cause to take it into custody.

The incident occurred in Pullman eight months before Kohberger officially moved to study Criminology at the University of Washington. He was not arrested or charged with an offense in connection with the recess.
