British woman dies after an alloy incident in French Alps

A British woman was killed on a tour of white water in the French Alps.

On Saturday, the woman fell from the raft immediately after noon local time (11:00 BST) on the Gissan River in Brinkon, southeast of France, regional prosecutor Marion Lozakhmer said.

Later, she was found on the river before being transported to a nearby hospital in a serious condition, local media were told.

Foreign service confirmed that the British woman had died in France and said she maintained a connection with the local authorities.

The woman participated on an organized trip along the river and took place a section of the river known as a “wallet” when she fell, according to the local Le Daufine news output.

It was not named in the local media or the French authorities and the UK.
