“Today we say goodbye to Ricardo Godoi, an incredible person who left his mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him,” a statement on Monday, January 20, on Godoi’s official Instagram read. “His joy, generosity and light will continue to be present in our memories and every story he helped build.”
The statement continued, “May he rest in peace. Our condolences to family and friends 💔.”
Godoi reportedly enlisted a local tattoo studio to complete it a new piece of art on his back, according to multiple powers. He allegedly went into cardiac arrest on the operating table. An investigation is ongoing.
“What happened was, at the start of the sedation and intubation, he went into cardiac arrest,” the studio owner told Daily Mail in a statement. “That happened before they even started tattooing her. He was quickly checked over and a cardiologist was called in to try and revive him, unfortunately without success.”
According to the outlet, Godoi was supposed to get the tattoo while under general anesthesia, sedation and intubation.
“To do this, we hired a private hospital with all the necessary staff, equipment and anesthetic drugs for the safety of the procedure,” continued Monday’s statement. “We also hired a doctor with expertise in anesthesiology and experience in intubation, whose documentation was approved by the hospital.”
The message concluded, “Blood tests were requested in advance, which showed no obvious risk in performing the procedure. Ricardo signed the consent form regarding the risk of the treatment.’”
