Brandon Sklenar publicly supported It Ends With Us costar Blake Lively in the middle of her lawsuit against Justin Baldoni.
Repost Sklenar, 34, y New York Times article that broke the news of Lively’s allegations against Baldoni, 40, via her Instagram Story on Monday, December 23.
He captioned the link to the story, “For the Love of God Read This.” The actor, who starred in It Ends With Us alongside Lively, 37, and Baldoni, the actress tagged in the post alongside a single red heart emoji.
The news broke on Saturday, December 21, that Lively file a lawsuit against Baldoni accusing him of sexual harassment and of launching a “social manipulation” campaign against her to “destroy” her reputation.
Baldoni has deny the allegations through his lawyer, Bryan Freedmanwho called Lively’s accusations “absolutely false, outrageous and deliberately salacious” in a statement to Us Weekly. Since the lawsuit hit the headlines, Baldoni has suffered major consequences including being dropped from his talent agency.
Sklenar’s support comes a day after he celebrated the holidays with friends Miles Teller and his wife, Keleigh’s Warbler, Chase Crawford and more. Keleigh, who is friends with Lively and Taylor Swiftshared a series of snaps of the celebrations.
Lively and Sklenar formed a friendship while working on It Ends With Us. In the film, Lively’s character, Lily, escapes an abusive relationship with Ryle, played by Baldoni, with the help of her old flame Atlas, portrayed by Sklenar. While promoting the film over the summer, Sklenar was present with Lively during the press to promote the film, while Baldoni conducted his individual interviews. When Lively came under fire for downplaying the film’s domestic violence plot line during press, Sklenar was the first of Lively’s lineup. It Ends With Us costars to come to her defense. (She later lively shared domestic violence resources through her social media page.)
“Colleen and the girls in this cast stand for hope, perseverance, and for women choosing a better life for themselves,” she wrote via a lengthy Instagram statement in August. “Amazing the women who put so much of their heart and soul into making this film because they believe so strongly in its message seems counter-productive and detracts from what this film is about. talking about it. In fact, the opposite is the point.”
Sklenar continued: “What might have happened behind the scenes is not and hopefully should not detract from our intentions in making this film. It’s been disheartening to see how much negativity is being projected online.”
Sklenar shared that “there is not one person involved in making this film” who was not “aware of the responsibility we had to do this,” and added, “This film is a harsh reality check for the men who need bring us— together and take responsibility for themselves and their actions.”
