Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband, Brandon BlackstockHe died on Thursday, August 7. He was 48 years old.
“With great sadness we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has died. Brandon has bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He died peacefully and was surrounded by a family,” a family representative said in a statement to Weekly US. “We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family privacy during this very difficult time.”
One day earlier, in explaining her decision to stop her Las Vegas residency, Clarkson revealed that Blackstock was suffering from illnessalthough he did not identify the exact condition at the time.
“Unfortunately, I need to postpone the rest of the August studio session dates in Las Vegas,” he said in a statement shared through Instagram on Wednesday, August 6.
Before his relationship with Clarkson, Blackstock was married to Melissa Ashworth Between 2001 and 2012. The pair welcomed Savannah’s daughter in June 2002 and her son Seth in November 2006. (Later Blackstock became a dad -cu in January 2022 when Savannah gave her first baby, Son Lake, with Quentin Lee.
Clarkson and Brandon – and her father was her former manager Narvel Blackstock – He started dating in February 2012 and tied the tie a year later in October 2013. The Daughter River pair welcomed in June 2014 and his son Remington in April 2016. During their wedding, Brandon served as Clarkson’s manager.
In June 2020, Clarkson filed for a divorce from Brandon after nearly seven years of marriage. The Exes completed the case in March 2022, and Clarkson received basic custody of their two children. (The Deos got a messy battle in court over property and finance.)

“I. never want to get married the first time, ”he told People. “(Brandon) had children, a religious background, and it was important, I think to him. But I’ve never been that person.”

Clarkson explained that her hesitation stems from what she had seen her loved ones dealing with him, adding, “Because I’ve been through a couple of divorces in my family, I don’t like putting any weight on it.”
In March, Clarkson shared a rare insight into his coparenting dynamics with Brandon during appearance Kylie Kelce’s “Not Gonna Lying” podcast.
When discussing children’s double standards for their mothers and fathers, he admitted fairly, “There’s a lot I keep in … because coparenting is fun.”
Blackstock has been survived by River and Remington and his two older childrenSavannah and Seth.
