Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie reached a divorce settlement after a highly publicized eight-year court battle.
Jolie’s attorney, James Simon, told Fox News Digital that the 61-year-old actor and 49-year-old actress filed for divorce on Monday.
“More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt,” Simon said in a statement. “She and the children left all the possessions they shared with Mr. Pitt and since then she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family. This is just part of a long process that began eight years ago. To be honest, Angelina is exhausted, but relieved that this part is over.”

A source close to the matter told Fox News Digital: “She does not speak ill of him publicly or privately. She tries her best to be light after a dark time.’
“Kids have grown up seeing that some people have so much power and privilege that their voices don’t matter,” the insider added. “Their pain doesn’t count. They wanted her to stand up to protect herself over the years, but she’s reminding them to focus on changing laws, not public stories.”
A Pitt spokesman declined to comment on the agreement.

Jolie and Pitt met on the set of their movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith in 2004, and they went public with their romance after the actor and his then-wife Jennifer Aniston announced their separation. The couple hit the tabloids with their relationship, earning the nickname “Brangelina”.
In August 2014, the former couple tied the knot at their French vineyard, Château Miraval.
They have 16-year-old sons Maddox, Pax and Knox, and daughters Zahara, Shiloh and Vivienne.
In 2016 the actress filed for divorce after accusing Pitt of physically abusing her and their children during an argument on a private jet. Pitt has denied the allegations, and no charges have been brought against him since an FBI investigation in 2016.
In 2019, a judge declared Jolie and Pitt divorced and single, but the issue of property division and child custody had to be decided separately.

Soon after, a private judge the two hired to hear the case made a ruling that included equal custody of their children, but Jolie filed to have him removed from the case because of an unreported conflict of interest. The appeals court agreed, recusing the judge and overturning his decision. The former couple had to start the process all over again.
During the long divorce battle, four of their children became adults, denying the need for a guardianship agreement for them. Only the minor 16-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne remain. In June, Shiloh, then known as Shiloh Nouvelle Jolie-Pitt, successfully petitioned to have Pitt’s name removed from her surname.

Pitt and Jolie were also embroiled in an intense legal battle over Chateau Miraval. A judge ruled that Pitt’s claims he filed against Jolie in 2022 can go to trial in a ruling issued in November, Fox News Digital confirmed. Pitt accused his ex-wife of breaching the former couple’s contract when she “secretly” sold her shares in their winery to the Stoli Group.
The judge ruled that Pitt and Jolie had an implied contract and an oral agreement. There was a written agreement regarding the holding company’s shares, according to the order obtained by Fox News Digital.

To settle the matter out of court, Pitt asked Jolie to reverse the sale of her stake in Miraval to Yuri Scheffler.
The former couple acquired a controlling stake Chateau Miraval in 2008 and spent time at home throughout their relationship. Jolie tried to sell her company Nouvel Tenute Del Mondo, a subsidiary of the Stoli Group, in 2021, effectively giving her a 50% ownership stake in Miraval. Pete fought the sale, claiming the move breached the contract between them.

Meanwhile, Jolie’s company claimed that Pitt masterminded a “revenge campaign” to “loot” the lucrative business since she first filed for divorce.
According to the Associated Press, the divorce settlement does not affect the lawsuit at the winery, where the legal battle between the two stars could continue.

After his breakup with Jolie, Pete moved on with jewelry designer Ines de Ramon. The couple’s relationship was confirmed in November 2022. In recent months, Pitt and de Ramon have made their romance public by attending several events together.
In September, the couple first appeared on the red carpet of the Venice Film Festival.

In October, a source told People magazine that Jolie is currently single.
“Angelina remains focused on her family and is not dating at this time,” the insider said.
