The fires that destroyed most of the central Israel since Wednesday have been extinguished, according to the country’s fire and rescue body.
More than 150 teams fought with Blaze, which burned about 20 square km (7.7 square miles) in the Latran area – between Jerusalem and Tel -Vaviv.
Israeli ambulances said at least 12 people were treated when inhaled, but no deadly cases were reported. According to Israeli Broadcasting, seventeen firefighters were injured.
Authorities said the hot and dry conditions with a strong wind made control of the fires more complex, and a senior official warned that he could shoot again.
“I was in the service for 24 years, and I was passing through a lot of fires,” said Shlomi Harush, deputy commander of the fire department of Ayalon. “Undoubtedly, this is one of the most violent fires I’ve seen.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced a national emergency in response to fires, and hundreds of people evacuated their homes, but ordered the evacuation for 12 cities near Jerusalem.
Countries, including France, Italy and Spain, sent aircraft to assist in emergency.
The fires led to the abolition of most official events celebrating Israel’s Independence Day on Thursday, and a nationwide ban on the lighting for barbecue – a traditional part of the day.
A large highway has now opened, which binds Jerusalem and Tel. Videos posted on the Internet earlier this week showed that people refuse their cars as flames and smoke, punched across the road.
Israeli authorities have presented controversial fire accounts.
Israeli President Isaac Herzeg said the fires were “part of the climatic crisis that cannot be ignored.”
Netanyahu accused the fire in the arson and said 18 people were arrested, but later Israeli police said only three suspects were in prison and they were not linked to fires.
