Billy Joel’s ex-wife Elizabeth Weber protects him from ‘HomeWrecker’ claims

Billy Joel‘s Elizabeth Weber opened for their marriage and what led to her leaving her first husband, Little jonfor the famous singer.

“I never thought of Bill as the home home,” said Weber Weekly US On Friday, August 8, adding that she needed to “tread carefully” because “Jon and I had no great romance.”

Weber first met Joel when she was married to his best friend and fellow -fand, Small. The pair were involved in a relationship credited for breaking down the band and negatively affecting Joel’s mental health, which once included deep depression and two attempts to commit suicide.

The relationship was discussed in the new two -part HBO documentary Billy Joel: And so it’s goingwho first performed in July. In it, Joel touches the infidelity, going on to describe the feeling of being what he considered to be home.

“The home was wrecked,” he added. “We had no deep connection, Jon and I. Almost in a way, my life began again when my son was born. Sean had just illuminated every room. He was a dear, hypocritical child. So I never thought of Bill as a homemade householder because there wasn’t much home to wreck.”

In the dock, Joel told filmmakers that he was “in love with a woman alone, and I was born in the nose, I deserved.”

After trying to take his own life for the second time after the band’s split and in the midst of his depression, Small took Joel to hospital – saving his life.

“He never told me anything,” Small said in the documentary. “The only practical answer I can give as to why Billy took how hard he was because he loved me so much and that he was killed to hurt me that much. Eventually, I forgive him.”

Joel and Weber later re -connected following the fall of the relationship and said “I do” in 1973, going on to spend nearly 10 years together before their divorce in 1982. Joel went on to marry Christie Brinkley In 1985, welcoming a girl Alexa Ray Joel Before calling he quit in 1994. Then Joel married the author of a cookbook Katie Lee In 2004 – the pair divorced five years later in 2009. In 2015, Joel married Alex Roderick. The pair shares two children, From Rose Joel and Remy Anne Joel.

“Bill and I came, like, in arc,” Weber explained to Us of their previous relationship. “We were for ourselves with Sean. So I didn’t try to approve anyone because even though I’m not really playing an instrument anymore, I’m kind of rock and role, too. I’m outside the borders. And I decided in those days that I wanted to live a certain life.”

Weber describes her current relationship with Joel as friendly, but not particularly close, say Us“If I want to talk to him or have something to say, I can contact him whenever I want.”

“But, he has a wife and has children and, at the moment, is struggling with something that is … that’s a big thing,” he added. “So (our relationship) is as close as it needs to be for two people who decided to divorce 40 years ago.”

In May, Joel canceled his remaining 2025 journey dates after revealing that he had received a normal pressure hydrocephalus diagnosis, a brain condition where there is an abnormal construction of cerebrospinal fluid that can cause walking, memory, balance and bladder control issues.

“I have my grandchildren that he knows and they know him,” Webber continued for their relationship in the midst of his diagnosis. “And his relationship with Sean is important to both of them. So we’re not far, but we know, and he lives in Florida and I live in California. But it’s all good.”
