England striker, Beth Mead, says he is taking his new role as an impact substitute ahead of the Lionessa euro 2025 clash with Italy on Tuesday.
Mead, who was the winner of the gold boot and named a tournament player when England won the tournament in 2022, has begun only one game so far in Switzerland, finding the net in the victory 6-1 over Wales in his final match of group D.

The party based on the importance of those who came out of the bench, and while Mead has been one of the prominent performers during Wiegman’s term as manager of England, he has found opportunities to start limited games this summer.
As the lions are preparing to try to reach a third of the third place tournament, Mead acknowledges that his role in the workforce has changed.
“You have to be ready to enter the moment,” Mead said in an interview with BBC Sport.
“You have to be ready to enter a position that you may not want to play or that you usually do not play and this was what was different for me (against Sweden).
“I ended up playing in the midfield as number six and then I was a number 10: I changed its position a few times in the game and I loved it.
“I love being on the pitch, I love to be able to do what I can do for the team, but they are the things you have to be able to do as a player.
“You have to wait for the unexpected and be willing to do what to do for the team and the greatest good.”
Mead hugs a “change of my role” to the template
After Lionessa’s triumph in Wembley three years ago, Mead was named BBC Sports Personality of the Year and came to runner -up at the Ballon d’Or and Uefa Player of the Year Awards this year.
The 30 -year -old Arsenal player lost the World Cup by 2023 due to injury, a campaign that England saw until the final where they were hit by Spain.
And as he admitted that the small time of play was hard, he insists that what is best for the team is still his priority.
“It’s not easy when you know you don’t start and you are playing well or anything, but I think this is what differentiated us as a team,” added Mead.
“Union, the desire to try to improve one another, to try to make us feel like we can find out.
“This is something that I have also seen as a change of my role. I really know the importance that it is, from being a headline to being competitive in training, to improve -so far I think we are doing a good job.”
