A new study has revealed which American cities are the best places to ring in the New Year, and some places may surprise you.

WalletHub released its list of the most fun and affordable cities in the US after researching all 50 states in the categories of entertainment and food, value, safety and affordability.

Chip Lupa, an analyst at WalletHub, said in a press release, “Celebrating New Year’s in the right city can turn the holiday into a truly magical experience.”

“The best cities to celebrate New Year’s have clear skies and some of the best fireworks,” Lupo said.

He added: “The best cities also offer plenty of highly rated and affordable options lunch optionsalong with vibrant nightlife and a host of events to make your New Year’s Eve an unforgettable one.”

The annual New Year’s Eve event in Times Square is packed with a crowd of over a million.

Big Apple is the leader in the number of restaurants and is the most affordable for restaurants with a rating of at least 4.5 stars.

As one of the most accessible cities, New York also has the sixth highest number of nightclubs per capita.
