UFC Fighter and Former Olympic I’m Askren shares an update after being In hospital with severe pneumonia.
In a video filmed from his hospital bed and shared through Instagram On Wednesday, July 9, Aksren, 40, said he “died four times” and had a double lung transplant after a seriously ill lung.
Askren’s wife, Amy. First revealed He was in hospital with pneumonia and “fighting” for his life in early June.
“I don’t remember anything between May 28 and July 2. No memory. No idea what happened,” Askren said in the video. “I read through my wife’s journal. It’s like a movie. It’s absurd.”
Askren quoted, “I only died four times” during his stay in hospital, adding, “The ticker stopped for about 20 seconds.”
The mixed martial artist is now on the threshold after having a double lung transplant, however, he noted that he had lost a great deal of pressure when going to hospital.
“(I’m) 147 lbs. I have not been 147 lbs since the age of 15,” he shared. “I lost like 50 lbs in a 45 -day period.”
Askren described last month as “almost like I had to have my own funeral,” stating how comfortable he was from the support and he and his family have received over the last month.
“The thing that was most effective for me was the love I felt from everyone,” he said. “You listen to all these people remember how much they enjoy you, how much they love you. Deportation of love from the wrestling community was amazing. It felt so good.”
Askren finished the video by sharing that he hoped to detail what eventually happened during his month -long hospital.
Askren’s wife, Amy, revealed his health first through Facebook on June 7. “You may have heard that my husband Ben was going through something,” he wrote. “Severe pneumonia developed very quickly. He is currently in hospital and fails to respond to anything at this time. We welcome all prayers for healing and peace.
Two days later, Amy urged his friends and followers to “continue to pray over.”
Askren and Amy share three children, including the women of Alex, 12, and Andi, 9, and Son Ozi, 7.
