The Chicago Bears there was nothing to play for Sunday in Green Bay other than spoiling the Packers’ playoff seed.
But with this being the Bears’ final game of the 2024 season, it was all done… even on special teams.
The first touchdown scored in the game was the result of some trickery by the Bears on a punt return, with Josh Blackwell scoring 94 yards without being touched after packers had no idea he had a football.

That’s because the Bears sent two returners near the end zone, and one of them acted like the ball was going their way.
Meanwhile, Blackwell was running back down the left sideline and saw the ball coming his way. So when his teammate was acting like he was just going to let the ball drop and hope it would lead to a touchback, Blackwell caught him and started running toward the end zone at the other end of the field.

It wasn’t until a mass of blockers were in front of Blackwell that the Packers saw what was happening, and only Green Bay punter Daniel Whelan knew what was happening. He didn’t have a chance to bring down Blackwell, however, as two Bears players blocked him to seal the first touchdown of the game.
Blackwell found some Bears fans in the back of the end zone and attempted a Lambeau Leap to rub some salt in the Packers’ wound.

While the Bears have nothing to worry about other than the NFL draft coming into the game with a 4-12 record, the Packers have a certain seed in the NFC playoff bracket.
The Packers are in the playoffs, but a win and a loss against the Washington Commanders would put them at No. 6, not the final slot at No. 7. Washington is in a close matchup with the Dallas Cowboys on the road at AT&T Stadium.
Chicago’s 2024 campaign began with plenty of optimism, most surrounding the No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williamsand the team got off to a 4-2 start, prompting plenty of playoff speculation.

But since then, the Bears have lost 10 straight games, which ultimately led to the firing of head coach Matt Eberfluss and general manager Ryan Powles. They are once again thinking about the future as they look to continue building around Williams.
