BCCI impotent as a clause blocks action against overseas stars jumping IPL 2025 post Indo-Pak War

Premier League India (IPL) 2025 will resume after suspension due to tensions between India and Pakistan. According to reports, the league will start this week as the Cricket Control Council in India (BCCI) wants to start -as soon as possible.

The IPL 2025 was suspended immediately after the game between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was called to Midway at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. Given the tensions, the governing body decided to postpone the league immediately for a week.

Foreign players may not return to IPL 2025

There were also reports that BCCI has informally explained to all the franchises that their foreign players call on Tuesday. But there have been learning that several players from abroad have to return to India during the rest of the league games due to international personal commitments and reasons.

Revsportz reports suggested that a Royal Challengers Bengaluru baptism has already informed its franchise that it is unlikely to return. In addition, Josh Hazlewood is expected to lose the league due to the bold of the shoulders, and some other franchises may also face the same problems.

However, if players abroad did not agree to return, it is unlikely that BCCI will take any action against them, as it is a force majeure. A greater force is a contractual clause that excuses people/parts of fulfilling their contracts in case of an extraordinary event that is outside their control.

Speaking of players abroad, the CEO confirmed that they will not push them to anyone and leave them the decision, as it is a force majeure. Talking to Revsportz, said:

“We do not push anyone and we will leave them,” said the CEO. “Yes, this is an force majeure, an unforeseen event that is out of control of any.”

Especially before the IPL 2025, the BCCI made a strong statement related to foreign players withdrawing from the tournament after being elected at an auction. The governing body stated that if these things happen, the player will be banned for two seasons.
