The Cricket Control Board in India (BCCI) has interfered after several IPL teams have expressed their dissatisfaction with the conditions of passage to the IPL 2025, claiming that the local curators have not adapted surfaces to adapt to the home team’s play style. The absence of a clear home advantage has become an important discussion point only two weeks in the season of the Indian Premier League 2025.
Three IPL teams, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), have raised concerns about play conditions at IPL 2025. LSG Mentor Zaheer Khan recently criticized the Pitch in Ekana Stadium, saying that he did not offer any advantage to Lucknow.
LSG, KKR and CSK favors slow shifts over favorable launches
The controversy over the KKR pitch made a dramatic turn when Eden Gardens, Sujan Mukherjee, retreated his previous claim to prepare the pitch. This response took place after the prominent commentators Harsha Bhogle and Simon Doull criticized him for not aligning with KKR’s preferences.
CSK main coach Stephen Fleming also made known frustration due to the conditions of passage to Chennai, saying that the franchise has no control over the surface of Chepauk. Several teams believe that household places should attend to their strengths, and many slowly prefer, turning the clues to the launches that favor the sides at a time.
BCCI dismisses concerns about the conditions of passage at IPL 2025
The BCCI has rejected concerns about the conditions of passage to IPL 2025, saying that the franchises should communicate their preferences in advance instead of mid -season. The Council also added that the curator has the final definition in the preparation of the pitch, without any contribution of teams or players.
“The releases have been good so far. Therefore, they may ask for launches that have more help for bowls. But there is a better communication between the franchise and the curators. It cannot be happened in a week of the IPL season,” said the Times of India a BCCI source.
“As for LuckNow, the square must be related to altering the basic nature of the pitch, which has a slowly slow nature. According to BCCI guidelines, it must have a good grass coverage to keep it through the tournament. The same goes for the rest of the places,” the source added.
The term “terrestrial authority” refers to the state association in charge of maintaining the site. This association is responsible for preparing the pitch for the games that are held at the stadium.

The report also stated that Delhi’s capitals were dissatisfied with the pitch conditions for their first two games at home in Vizag.
According to BCCI guidelines, franchises and players have no authority about the preparation of the pitch, as the curators are responsible for guaranteeing a fair balance between sewing and twist.
Although the teams cannot dictate the conditions of the tone, it is reasonable that they expect surfaces that adapt to their strengths, especially since the teams gather carefully with a strategy in mind.
The commissioners could consider the needs of the franchises that have invested important time and resources in the construction of their teams.
