The Cricket Control Board at India (BCCI) has revealed the reason for moving the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Kolkata final confrontation to Ahmedabad. One day after the final, the Council stated that the decision was made purely based on scientific contributions, without any other factors involved.
The final of the Premier League of India 2025 between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (Rcb) and Kings punjab (PBKs) concluded without interruption. Despite the challenges of the war and the threat of rain, careful scientific and skillful decision -making among the scenarios was a sigh of relief to the cricket fans.
The IPL Governing Council met on May 20 to review the whole of India before the end of the Playoff matches, including the qualifying 1, the eliminator, the qualifying 2 and the final.

Hyderabad and Kolkata were initially chosen as hosts, but after a week pause caused to increase border tensions, both the political situation and the weather patterns changed dramatically.
With the updated weather data on the hand, the Council said that Kolkata had 65% rain chances on the last day, while Ahmedabad’s forecast showed only 3% chance. This significant difference led to the decision to move the final game to Ahmedabad to ensure a good finish.
The Cricket Control Council in India addressed the speculation that the IPL final movement was politically motivated. On June 4, one day after the final, BCCI secretary, Devajit Saikia, said that the decision was made from scientific data.
“The decision was never political. We have taken into account material and scientific contributions. There was no forecast for rain in Ahmedabad at the time of the GC,” Saikia said Devajit in Cricbuzz.
The IPL 2025 final was played without interruption at the Narendra Modi stadium of Ahmedabad. However, Kolkata, who welcomed the game, was affected by heavy rain and storms. Kolkata experienced more than four hours of heavy rain and storms from 9pm.
The qualifying 2 of the IPL 2025 faced a two -hour delay due to the weather conditions on Sunday, June 1. Interestingly, Kolkata had a clear sky that day. BCCI and IPL officials were finally relieved as the crucial shock between Bombay Indians And the kings of Punjab were completely completed without losing.
The Narendra Modi stadium of Ahmedabad hosted its third IPL final in so many years, after having completed the title clashes by both 2022 and 2023.
It was first awarded in the final of 2022 after the league stage was held entirely in Mumbai. The stadium maintained the lodging rights the following year, as Gujarat Titans won the 2022 championship by defeating the Rajasthan Royals. On the other hand, Eden Gardens hosted two IPL finals in 2013 and 2015.
