The countdown to cricket’s biggest extravaganza has officially begun! The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revealed that the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 The season will begin in March, promising another exciting chapter in the league’s illustrious history.
Eden Gardens will host the opening and final of the tournament
Notably, the BCCI has officially announced that the next IPL season will begin on March 23, with the final slated for May 25. Rajeev Shuklavice-president of BCCI, made the announcement during a press conference after a special general meeting held in Mumbai.
Eden Gardens, the iconic home of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)has been selected to host both the tournament opener and the final. This is in line with the tradition of the home of the defending champions hosting key matches. KKR clinched the IPL 2024 title, taking home the honor for the upcoming season.

Mega Auction and Schedule Updates
Before the mega auction in November, the IPL Governing Council had taken an innovative step by sharing the tournament windows for the next three seasons (2025-2027) with all the franchises. The 2025 season has been allocated a window from March 15 to May 25.
To adapt to the international calendar, especially the ICC Champions Trophy With the final slated for March 9, the IPL has secured a two-week reservation before the league begins. The final start date of March 23 allows teams and players adequate preparation time after the global tournament.
