Barbecue leader Haiti in the capital in the capital

The Haiti government states that the police have launched a large -scale operation in Shantitown, which is controlled by the powerful gang leader Jimmy Cherisier, who is widely known as barbecue.

Authorities say several members of the gang have been killed at the bottom of the Delmas capital Port-Prince.

Local reports state that the operation uses military drones that carry explosives.

Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils Aima praised the attack. He said it was the work of a special operational group created two days ago to solve uncertainty.

Chérizier, at the age of 47, is afraid of the leader of Vivas Azama (live), a coalition of gangs that control most of the city.

It is unclear whether the Kenyan police officers were located in Haiti last year to help fight gangs in security operations.

Last week, The Kenyan police officer – who was in a patrol with a multinational mission under the guidance of Kenya – was killed in confrontation with the gang members.

The gang control in the Port-PRIN led to an almost complete rupture of law enforcement, the collapse of medical services and the onset of food security.

More than 5,500 people were killed in the violence associated with the gangs in the Caribbean in 2024, and more than a million people escaped from their homes.

The Haiti transitional Council, a body created to restore the democratic order, has made little progress against the organization long delay.
