Melbourne Renegades batsman Jonathan Wells had all the luck going his way in the ongoing match against the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25. The 23rd match of the tournament between the teams takes place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne.

Jonathan Wells is playing a decent hand for his team in the ongoing Big Bash League match and made sure to help his team post a decent total on the board. The right-hander came out to bat at No. 5 and bailed his team out of trouble when they struggled to get going with the bat.

Wells came to bat as the Melbourne Renegades were reeling at 53/3. The right-hander has soaked up all the pressure and made sure to score some runs for the team, taking his team total to around 170, which at one point looked impossible, especially with the team that was losing the early gates.

But it’s fair to say Wells also had his fair share of luck. During the third ball of the end of the 15th, Peter Siddle bowled a delivery that almost got the batsman out but the fast bowler was unlucky to get the wicket under his belt.

Jonathan Wells made space and looked to drive it offside; the ball angled in and took the inside edge. It went to Sam Harper’s left and the keeper-batsman lunged and got both hands but couldn’t catch it. The bail also lit up as the ball went through the stumps.

Jonathan Wells ends the innings with 45 runs off 31 balls

For Melbourne Stars, Joel Paris was the pick of the bowlers as he returned with figures of 2/23. Along with him, Peter Siddle also swallowed two scalps, while Mark Steketee and Usama Mir they were also between the ports. The Stars would be confident of chasing down the target and earning two important points.
