“I’ve written songs inspired by people that people have no idea who they are,” said Bad Bunny (real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio), 30, in an interview with Time published on Sunday, January 5. “The meaning of the song can vary in many things, such as the absence of a person who is no longer with you, or a lover. But it can be many other things too, which are no longer there. “
In particular, the album’s title track “DtMF” deals with feelings of regret over a relationship, while also trying to make peace with its end. Many fans of the Puerto Rican singer have assumed that the breakup song is about his former model and recent reality TV star Kendall Jenner.
Bad Bunny and Jenner, 28, were first linked romantically in February 2023 when they were spotted on a date in Beverly Hills. The pair later attended the Met Gala in May of the same year. Until their separation in December 2023 thereafter less than a year of datingthe pair largely kept their romance out of the public eye.

While the couple later ended cozily for June 2024 date night in parissource confirm only to Us Weekly in September that Jenner “decided she wanted space” and the pair were no longer an item.

While his latest album explores aspects of romantic love, Bad Bunny said Time that I should have thrown also a tribute to his home island, Puerto Rico.
“At times you may be a bit nostalgic, a bit sentimental… But at the same time, you enjoy other things: playing dominoes with grandparents or with the family,” he said. “Since we are also in Puerto Rico, we are at home, we are with the group: That is a reason to be happy, to be satisfied.”
