Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, launched from New Zealand’s tour, selected Pakistan’s new captain

Several Pakistan senior players, including Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, are considering jumping the next tour of New Zealand after the disappointing team performance at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Former Cricter Rashid Latif has revealed the template, with several new faces, with Shadab Khan probably being named Captain.

Pakistan defending champions were eliminated from the 2025 Champions League trophy after suffering consecutive defeats in New Zealand and India. They ended up at the bottom of group A with a single point, as the final match against Bangla desh in Rawalpindi was abandoned due to rain.

Following the disappointing Pakistan campaign on the champions trophy, the former cricketers and amateurs strongly criticized senior players such as Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Afridi for a lower performance than the big stage. Rashid Latif shared a list of potential players considered. Latif revealed that the new faces such as Hassan Nawaz, Ali Raza, Abdul Samad, Akif Javed and Muhammad Nafay are in mind. He also stated that Muhammad Haris, Sufyan Muqeem and Irfan Khan Niazi are among the returning players.

Pakistan to start New Zealand tour on March 16

Pakistan will tour New Zealand from April 16 to 5 for a total of eight games, including five T20is and three hatred. This series will serve as a crucial opportunity for Pakistan to try new players, especially in the absence of several senior cricketers.

The PCB’s decision on the captaincy will be closely, as the team seeks to rebuild after the disappointing ICC Champions Trophy 2025 campaign.

The T20I series will begin on March 16 in Christchurch, followed by the second game on March 18 in Dunedin. The third game will take place in Auckland on March 21, while the fourth and fifth T20is will be played on March 23 in Mount Maunganui and on March 26 in Wellington, respectively.

Following the conclusion of the T20I series, the two teams will focus on the series of three games. The first hatred will be played in Napier on March 29, with the second game scheduled for April 2 in Hamilton. This 50 -year series will end with the final match in Mount Maungani on April 5.
