Vice-captain and rising star
Meanwhile, leg spinner Gill’s passion will serve as vice-captain for the 16-team tournament. Amritsar-born Gill is one of the brightest young prospects in Australian cricket. He has already represented Australia at age group level and on 13 October 2024 made his debut in the shorter format for the Melbourne Stars during the T20 Spring Challenge against Sydney Thunderstorm. In that match, Hasrat took an impressive three wickets. Gill, now, has been named the team’s vice-captain and her leg-spin will be crucial to Australia’s success. Known for her impressive bowling skills, Hasrat is expected to play a key role in the team’s strategies during the tournament.
