This Test is of immense importance for India, trailing 2-1 in the five-match series with a draw. A win in Sydney would not only clinch the series but also allow India to retain the prestige Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Australia, on the other hand, will aim to seal the series with a win, putting extra pressure on the visitors. The stakes are further increased by the ICC World Test Championship classifications India, currently on 114 points with a PCT of 50%, need a win to increase their PCT to 55.26% and stay in contention for the championship final.
