Gavaskar was performing his commentary duties with Harsha Bhogle while Pant’s dismissal took place. The Indian legend lashed out at the dynamic batsman and lashed out at the manner in which Pant gave away his wicket to the Aussies.

The reason why I I was upset that the ego took over the next ball. I just got hit in the gut trying a similar shot. I’m going to show the bowler who’s the boss.” he said
Gavaskar further remarked that if Pant’s shot had gone for a 6, he would have thanked the keeper batsman, but there is a fine line between being careless and careless. According to Gavaskar, Pant had crossed the line and given away his wicket with this shot.
