The excitement of 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy came to the end as Australia defeated India in the fifth and final Test match to clinch a 3–1 series victory. With this, Australia’s long wait for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is finally over after 10 years. Amid the celebration of the home team, a mistake during the presentation of the trophy has caught the attention of cricket fans and analysts.
In a major development at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), the Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar who shares his name along with the former Australian cricketer Allan Border in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, he was not invited on stage to present the trophy to the winning captain. “We recognize that it would have been preferable if both Allan Border and Sunil Gavaskar had asked to come on stage.” a CA spokesman said in a statement accepting its mistake.
