Golden Globes host Nikki Glazer opened the evening by mocking celebrities past presidential endorsements which seemed to have no effect.
When the awards ceremony kicked off on Sunday night, Glazer started by complimenting the celebrities, but quickly turned to roasting them.
“I’m not here to roast you tonight. I want you to know this. How could I? You are all so famous, so talented, so strong. I mean, you could really do anything … I mean, except tell the country who to vote for,” Glazer said.
As the crowd laughed, she continued, “But that’s okay! You’ll get them next time! If he will. I’m afraid.”

DEM REP. CALL HARRIS’S CAMPAIGN FOR CELEBRITY ENDORSEMENT: ‘WEIGH NOBODY’

“I am thrilled to be hosting the Golden Globes,” Glazer wrote in a statement, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “This is one of my favorite nights on TV and now I get a front row seat (actually, I think I should be hosting from the stage). The Golden Globes aren’t just a big night for TV and film, they’re also a big night for comedy. It’s one of the few times that show business not only allows, but encourages, lovingly mocking itself (at least I hope so.) It’s an exciting but challenging gig because it’s live, unpredictable, and in front of Hollywood’s biggest stars ( who can also get wasted sitting next to their recent exes)’.

“Some of my favorite jokes of all time have come from past opening monologues at the Golden Globes, when Tina (Fey), Amy (Poehler) or Ricky (Gervais) said exactly what we all didn’t know we desperately wanted to hear.” , she said. added. “I’m just hoping to continue this time-honored tradition (it could also lead to cancellation). This is truly a dream job. Plus, I no longer have to feel guilty about every TV show and movie I watched in the past. It was all worth it (Season 4 of ‘Sailing Yacht’ is going to be nominated, right?).”
