At least 110 people were killed in a flood caused by heavy rain in Central Nigeria, BBC officials said.
The precipitation lasted several hours, said the head of the Niger Emergency Agency (NSEMA) Baba-Ara.
He added that “the growing floods of water plunged and washed away more than 50 houses with its residents.”
According to the NSEMA, the Tiffin Maza and Anguwan areas from the city of Mokwa were affected.
The head of the district Mokwow Muhammad Shaba said that it had been “60 years” because the community suffered such a flood.
“I ask the government to support us,” Mr. Aliya said.
This is the beginning of the rainy season in Nigeria.
In many parts of Northern Nigeria in 2024, heavy rainfall and floods that caused death, movement of people and destruction of houses and infrastructure survived.
In 2022, the country also suffered from floods, which forced about 1.3 million people from their homes and caused more than 600 deaths.
