Asaduddin Owaisipresident of the All India Majlis-e-Etedul Muslimeen (IMIM) and a prominent Member of Lok Sabha, has triggered a strong critique against the Cricket Control Board in India (BCCI) and the central government on the programming of the India-Pakistan Cricket apparatus to the Asia Cup 2025. A few months after Pahalgam’s devastating horror attack, Owaisi questioned the coherence of government policy and the moral justification of sports bonds with Pakistan when other forms of commitment are frozen.
Owaisi’s intervention during a Lok Sabha debate on Operation Sindoor was emotionally accused and critically. Based on -on the prime minister ScreamOne’s own claims that “Blood and water cannot flow together“Owaisi asked how the government could justify playing Cricket with Pakistan when trade, air space and diplomatic channels are suspended.
Asked a bite rhetorical question: “Does this government have so much courage to name the families of the dead in the Pahalgam attack and say that we have ventured to the Sindoor operation and now do you see the Pakistan party?“Owaisi stated that he could not, with good conscience, see the party, arguing that routine sports fervent after a massacre of terror was a” matter of great repentance “and a contradiction of national politics.
He emphasized the inherent contradiction of the handling of India of cross -border terror: “When Pakistan aircraft cannot enter our air space, their boat cannot enter our water, has trade ended, how will you play a cricket game with Pakistan? When we do not give water, saying that blood and water will not flow, will you play a cricket game?“Owaisi’s questions encapsulated the feelings of many opposition leaders and an audience that is already bewildering any thaw with Pakistan in the midst of increased tensions.

Owaisi’s statements have amplified the heart of the predominant opposition, with other deputies joining India objections playing Cricket against Pakistan in current circumstances. The next clash of the Asia Cup, scheduled for September 14, is scheduled a few months after the Pahalgam attack, which left at least 25 civilians dead, and after the Indian Armed Forces were retaliated with operations aimed at the border. Since India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral cricket since 2013 and only gather on the ICC and Asia Cup tournaments, these parties do not become sports competitions, but on loaded political events, guarded by millions and examined by policy makers.
The BCCI, meanwhile, has maintained that accessories are decided within the setting established by the Asian cricket tip And they are different from the bilateral bonds. However, criticism has been fast on social media, reflecting a widespread concern to normalize sports interactions with Pakistan after fatal attacks. Owaisi’s challenge pushes the BCCI and the center to recognize the symbolic magnitude of the party and the mixed signals that can be sent to the families of the victims, the security forces and the wider public.
