Since life in Spain and Portugal is stuttering to the norm, there are not only great questions that went wrong, but also how to prevent a full-fledged electricity failure.
On Tuesday, Tuesday was only 11:15 (09:15 GMT), almost 23 hours after the system collapsed that Spain stated that it had come back to normal.
Trains started working again, though some lines are suspended and most of the houses have returned their strength.
So, how did it return and launched and why took so much time?
For most of Monday, Spain was in chaos.
It seems that the problem is related to two individual connection problems in the southwest for several points, and then shutting off the French network for almost an hour.
Pedro Sanchez Prime Minister emphasized the sudden loss of 15 gigawat electricity at 12:33 on Monday, when about 60% of Spain’s electricity production suddenly disappeared.
Eduardo Print, Director of Red Eléctrica Network, said the systems were stable until they lose electricity production in the South Western Spain.
Only in the Canary Islands, Balearics and Seut and Melila were not affected on the North African coast.
An increasing number of public figures accuses the saturation of solar energy and excessive dependence on renewable energy.
A few minutes before the shutdown, Spain worked 60.64% of the solar photovoltaic generation, 12% wind and 11.6% nuclear.
However, a diversified and advanced energy mix of Spain – a national power collapse at 12:35 on Monday demanded a lot of effort to return Spain and launch.
Initial attention was concluded to work again the northern and southern power regions, which, according to the operator of the Red Eléctrica network, is a key to “gradually refurbishing the transmission network because the generating blocks are connected.”
The risk is to overload the system, turning on everything at the same time and causing another large -scale shutdown.
Thus, everything had to be carefully gradual for what experts call a “black beginning” that works as a success.
The initial attention was paid to hydroelectric plants, in particular, plants with downloading with tanks full at this time of year and able to quickly produce electricity from a permanent start.
The combined cycle gas factories also played a significant role in overcoming the network, but four nuclear energy reactors in Almaraz, ASCó and Vandellós were automatically closed, and three more were offline.
Spain’s neighbors France and Morocco also came to the rescue.
Morocco said 900 MW of the authorities was transferred through two highly professional lines crossing the Strait of Gibraltr from Zhadiua to the tariff in southern Spain.
The French RTE said that “gradually transmitted more electricity to the Spanish border” through its power transmission, which supplies Catalonia to northeast Spain and the Basque country in the northwest.
RTE said Monday on Monday was disabled by the Iberian network from 12:38 to 13:30 when the 400 kV line to Catalonia was restored. In a matter of minutes, France delivered 700 MW, and RTE said it could later increase it to 2000 MW.
The authorities were then restored to the Spanish electric substation in the north, south and west of the peninsula.
By 7:20 pm on Monday, the network operator stated that more than a fifth of the demand was restored by electricity production in Spain and France.
Endesa electricity supplier said that by 19:15, it resumed nearly 3.5 million customers and prioritized the hospital and other strategic infrastructure.
A little more than an hour leader Boss Red Eléctrica Eduardo Prieo said that about 9200 MW demand – about 35.1% – was restored.
This figure has invariably increased to 61.35% to the north on Monday, and on Tuesday more than 99% to 7:00.
Spain is just now starting to count the price. Organization of the Bosses General Directors has estimated a blow to the economy of 1.6 billion euros.
And the game of political guilt has already begun.
The Conservative Head of the Madrid Community, Isabel Diaz Ayus, said the government’s reaction was slow and ineffective, while the leader of its People’s Party Albert Nunes Fejo complained about the “sent” image of Spain, which is sent worldwide.
Despite all the problems, the Spaniards were praised by the government for lifting this and showed solidarity.
The hospitals had reserve diesel generators, so they were able to support critical assistance.
Civil Police in Spain said she saved 13,000 passengers who had been trained.
Residents of the southern city of Vilanov -da -Kardoba came to the rescue of the passengers who were on the Ouigo train.
Local police in Barcelona returned to the old routes, adjusting the movement in Espanya because the light was.
Barcelona’s subway passengers had to go to security using torches on their mobile phones when their trains were stuck in the tunnels.
The Giron Conference Center was transformed into a shelter for 180 beds for people who were intermittently on the railway.
Despite the fact that flights across the country were injured, the Airport Airport operator continued to go throughout the breakdown with the help of generators.
The telephone batteries ran down, the TVs were on the flashing, and for many Spaniards, their only rescue circle for the outside world was from a car or battery, as radio stations were passing through darkening.
Madrid had an urgent call for blood donations on the eve of the big weekend in the national holiday.
Pedro Sanchez is determined that the lessons will be studied and such a crisis will not happen again.
But energy expert Carlos Kagigal told Spanish television that this could be a risk because Spain’s infrastructure is simply unable to handle all the renewable energy.
The power grid operator warned over the risks of excessive renewable energy during the closure of nuclear stations earlier this year.
But the clip of his President Beatrice Carridor became a viral since 2021, in which she insisted that in Spain there was “one of the safest and most advanced” electric systems in the world, and there was no reason to worry.
