Think about it, Machad says: “What wouldn’t be if you weren’t there? Or what wouldn’t happen as if you weren’t?”
- Than I am most proud of: These are “exceptional” achievements where you went above and further, Machad says. Some of her favorite guidelines: did you save money company? Did you earn the company money? Did you save time company? Did you create an improvement in the process that created great efficiency? Think of a big picture in terms of your influence on your team and business.
- Why should they hire me: Finally, if you are preparing DOC for a new job, adapt this section to demonstrate your role alignment, team and the company you apply. Explore the mission and culture of the company and show how you fit well. For example, if the company is known for moving fast, it’s time to tell them that you are also working. Your elevator step here should show that “not only will you be well suited, but you are also well suited for the company as a whole,” Machad says.
Better than a resume or cover letter: “Nobody reads accompanying letters”
Machado says that having a DOC can help you set up a network and can make a greater impact than a traditional resume or cover letter.
“Nobody reads the accompanying letters,” Machad says. “Even if I have been a recruiter for so many years, I can count on, perhaps in one hand, how many times I actually read the cover letter.”
Meanwhile, DOC Machado is “time to make you fasten your horn,” Machad says. “It is difficult to see in your resume the volume of impact and things you actually possess and are actually proud.”
It also shows the most important aspects of a candidate who wants to know, says Machad, based on his time of employment by hiring in companies such as Meta and LinkedIn.
Machad says that hiring executives will already know what you do in your role, but you are looking for what you will bring to a new company and things that make them think, “Wow, see what she has done there. Imagine what she could do here,” she says. “And that’s what your Doc Hrag does.”
