Tasin, who is also the founder of “Money from Katie”, describes the cost of beauty as “a hot girl -khamyak”. She said that the women’s budgets had a whole industry dedicated to the profit of women’s uncertainty.
CNBC talked to Tasin at the end of June about how women can avoid “a hot girl’s wheel” and what to do instead of their cash.

“Beauty is a cushioning asset by design”
Ana Teresa Solo: The first section of your book tells about the so-called “Hot Girl Hamiak”. Can you describe what it is?
Katie Gatti Tasin: “Hot Girl -Khameyak Circle” is a collection of repetitive costs needed to maintain what I like to call “an acceptable female look”. Each dollar you spend will function as an obligation to continue spending more money in the future because of the nature of aesthetic improvement: your body will eventually drop all these interventions you make.
Anyone who, when -bought acrylic nails, is familiar with this struggle, where they grow, and then the nails beneath it are delicate and discolored.
ATS: What costs fall into this kind of costs?
Kgt: Usually for most women it’s hair, it’s nails, it’s skin care.
Things that are more about the form than function is probably a good way to do this.
Buying toothpaste is not taken into account. Although it is still buying personal hygiene, because toothpaste does a job for you, we are talking about hygiene. While probably white strips are likely to be considered because this is what you do to intervene with how you look and what you perceive.
This can take the form that we accept as basic women’s service or maintenance, and this is really what I want people to look more closely at myself.
Issue of a book is a rich girl nation
ATS: How does a person become prey?
Kgt: If you feel like you look, it’s probably because you are accurately collecting the signals he is doing. We know that “pretty privilege” is real, and so I want to be careful not to hint that everyone who falls for it makes a sign, or reacts to the forces that are completely made or artificial.
It is true that beautiful people are better and placed. We know it. So, in a sense, this is a rational way to start going down because you feel there is some profitability of these investments.
But what I want to bring people back, this, beauty is a cushioning asset by design. Unlike investment In real capital – which will grow over time, it will become more valuable – if you put in beauty, the opposite happens. More and more money will be required to expand this half -life.
“Beauty is power”
ATS: It sounds like this is no accident, especially for women. Why is it? What is the dynamics in the game?
Kgt: I just had a wonderful interview on my show with a woman named McMilan Kotta (who is a sociologist and writer), and I think she really nailed her. She said beauty is power. Beauty is the only power that women can possess; They can use it but can never possess it.
My perspective is that women are socialized to consider beauty as the most powerful and important social capital that should be pursued.
But I think as people, we have the opportunity to positively affect each other and permission to give up – and maybe you won’t give up on the way. I think a lot of this comes down to survival.
ATS: You mentioned in the book that the theme “Mysteriously missing” from the books of personal finance and sites you visited in the past. What do you think that?
Kgt: Most personal finance books and most personal finance have historically written to men and for men, which means that men formed subtle and obvious ways of this area with their experience, preferences and priorities.
By the way, I don’t beat them. I have learned a lot by reading men’s blogs for money, but obviously they will not be able to direct me: “Hey, that’s why your full moment makes you break.” It was just completely out of their field of reference.

ATS: You give a strategy to reduce such costs called “Hot Girl Detox”. Is it useful for the balance?
