Arteta loved the good shape of the Arsenal after the victory of the Champions League, but refuses to comment on the links of Ollie Watkins

Arsenal advanced to the Champions League the last 16 with a 2-1 victory over Girona on Wednesday night.

Despite a great start of the Gunners, it was Girona who hit first, with Arnaut Danjuma who was capitalized on a ball through Juanpe to end Neto in the 28th minute.

Arsenal responded quickly, equalizing the compound penalty of Jorginho after Thomas Partey was demolished in the box.

The visitors controlled the second half, dominating the possession and creating most of the possibilities.

Ethan Nwaneri, already the second youngest English scorer in the Champions League history, produced the time of magic in the 42nd minute, cutting inside and dragging a brilliant effort to the end.

Leandro Trossard struck the crossbar just before half the time when Arsenal pressed for a third.

And they could have had it with a few minutes to pass after a Girona handball gave the Gunners another penalty.

Raheem Sterling increased, but saw that his efforts were saved, reflecting his difficult time with the London North Club this season.

Speaking after the game, Arteta said, “At the moment really good. Things are going well.

“We won the last four games in the Champions League, but winning in this competition is very demanding, but in general the team has been very consistent, regardless of all the problems they had to face.

“Hopefully we believe in this locker room that we are a good team and that we can face anyone and still perform and win games.”

Prior to Arsenal’s victory over Girona, reports broke up that the club had seen a 60 million pounds for Ollie Watkins rejected.

It reaches the consequence of Arteta, admitting that his side needs a new striker, but he refused to comment on this topic.

He added, “I can’t talk about this. My trust is that we have an incredible club with people who always work to try to improve. Let’s see what happens.”
