Artet frustrated by lack of coherence as arsenal of Crystal Palace

Mikel Arteta lamented the lack of coherence on his side as the Arsenal led twice, but was reproached both in a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace in the Emirates Wednesday.

Jakub Kiwior had given the Gunners the early advantage with a header, but the volley he bounced off Ebeechi Eze from the edge of the box leveled things.

Leandro Trosard then found the net to restore the advantage of the Arteta side before the pause, but the visitors won the level in the second half courtesy of a Jean-Philippe Mateta finish after a mistake by William Saliba.

The result has only delayed Liverpool’s seemingly inevitable title celebrations, with the Arne Slot team that now needs a single five -game point to secure the 20th Crown of the Club’s Premier League.

For both Arsenal and Palau, his attention will now be passed to their respective Cup semifinals. Oliver Glasner’s men travel to Wembley on Saturday to face Aston Villa for a place in the FA Cup final, while the Arteta team hosts PSG in the first part of the Champions League the last four on Tuesday.

And, although the result is likely to have little impact on both the Arsenal and the Palace campaigns, the head of the Gunners was no less dissatisfied with the demonstration of his team.

“We are disappointed with the result and with the performance. We have not found enough consistency in our actions to win the right to completely dominate the game,” Arteta said.

“We started giving away shameless balls and also left standards in certain defensive habits.

“It’s part of football and it cost us two points.”

Asked if his players could forgive -having had his eyes in the next confrontation with PSG, Arteta remained standing in his response.

“No, because we need consistency to all the competitions we play to be better.

“Today I think they (Palau) were very organized and they deserve the credit, but we must also be critical of ourselves and look at what we need to do better.

Speaking of the need for his team to rule out individual mistakes ahead of what he called “the most important game of the season” against PSG, Arteta added: “Yes, this will cost you points. But they (errors) are part of football. It is detrimental, but I think we have to accept that when we play these things they can happen.

“Now we have to recover, regain energy and focus on this game.”
