Arrest after the death of Ukrainian politician Andri Parubia

The suspect in the deadly picture of the outstanding Ukrainian politician Andri Parubiy was arrested, said the country’s President Volladimir Zelensky.

The 54-year-old parliamentarian was killed by an attacker who acted as a courier in the Western city of Lviv on Saturday, which caused a nun.

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klimenko said in a statement issued in the early hours on Monday that the suspect was detained in the western region of Kommel.

Paruby rose to the noble protests of Ukraine Euromaidan, who advocated closer ties with the EU and beat the pro -Russian former President Viktor Yanukovych in 2014.

Klimenko stated that the preliminary investigation found that the murder was “carefully prepared” with a schedule of travel pairing and reflected routes, as well as the escape plan.

He added that the National Police of Ukraine would provide more information.

Zelensky said in a social media report that he talked to the chief prosecutor Ruslan Kravchenko, who advised that the suspect had given initial testimony.

“Currently, urgent investigative actions are underway to establish all the circumstances of this murder,” he added, as well as thanking law enforcement agencies and prosecutors for “work around the clock”.

Unchecked footage, allegedly shooting seemed to show the militant dressed as a courier approaching Parubi outside and lifting his weapon when he followed.

At a briefing on Saturday, the police chief of Lviv Oleksandr Schlihovsky said the attacker “fired about eight shots from firearms”.

The sources within the law enforcement agencies of Ukraine told the BBC that the attacker put on to look like a worker from the shipping company. The company stated that the crime is “deeply shocked” and will fully cooperate with the investigation.

Parubiy was the speaker of the country’s parliament from April 2016 to August 2019.

He was one of the leaders of the demonstrations in 2013-14, which called for closer ties with the European Union. He organized his self -defense teams, guarding a wide tent camp in the heart of Kiev’s capital during protest.
